"teach me self abandonment"

These words, from a metal song titled "Of Ages Past", written by the band Demise of Eros, have really got me thinking this last week.

In about a span of 24 hours it seemed as if I was being told over and over again > "You are so, so selfish" <.

God's word made it painfully clear how selfish I am in my heart,

then of course I'm reading the book "Lies Women Believe" for our women's Bible study,

and the topic for that week was about how we claim all these "rights" for ourselves and believe that we "deserve" certain things...

so that message of how selfish I am just kept screaming in my ear.

To top it off.... I'm reading the lyrics to Demise of Eros' album, and sure enough, these words stand out to me.

I need to be taught self-abandonment.

I need to discipline myself and learn that my life is not about me.
